As part of a first artistic expedition to Guna Yala in February 2017, I traveled to my islands with different artists who worked with the children for 4 days. Canadian photographer Leygh Allison and Aphiraa Nirmalarajah used their camera's in order to show a glimpse into the eyes and souls of the island's children. Artist Susan Israel installed her site-specific project, Rising Waters, for the first time outside the United States, showing the water level in the coming years. Susan also led over 25 children through a day of art-making connected to Rising Waters that introduced them to the issue of sea level rise in a tactile and non-frightening way. Filmmaker Brandon Polack and Brady Williams filmed a short film that seeks to connect the audience with the children of this community through play, a universal language.
